I know…it’s been forever since I last posted! I’m in the middle of finals right now, but I wanted to make sure I posted about my April Foodie Penpal reveal.
This month, I was sent some AMAZING goodies from Lora aka the Crazy Running Girl! When she originally asked me what kind of food I like/dislike, she also wanted to know my favorite ethnic food, which is undoubtedly Italian. As I opened her package, I cannot tell you how excited I was to read in her note that she sent me a box full of food from Eataly!
Eataly is a magical place (in my opinion) where you can get any Italian you’ve ever dreamed of. It’s only location is in NYC (though there is talk of a location coming to DC, but nothing concrete). Want gelato? They have it. How about a big bowl of pasta? Yup! Here’s some photos from my trip to Eataly last summer.
They have over 10 restaurants packed into one spot, and they also have a HUGE market where Lora picked up the following goodies for me:
- Pomodoro sauce
- Apricot jam
- Lemon candy
I cannot wait to make the pasta! It’s a good sign when the package is in only Italian, right? I just bought some fresh mozzarella and I have a basil plant growing on my patio, so I think it’s needless to say that I’m in for a real treat.
I’ve already enjoyed the apricot jam on some bread. It’s delicious! I love the little jars for the jam and honey. They’re so cute right? I just bought some greek yogurt and I bet the honey will be a great addition. The lemon candy is a sweet treat, and I love the packaging!
Lora really hit this foodie penpal package out of the park! I cannot thank her enough for the wonderful and delicious treats.

Interested in joining Foodie Penpals? Here is some information describing what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penpals is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
